Miami-Beach Giving Away New & Improved Sandbags Minus The Sand

With hurricane season in full gear, Miami Beach is giving away sandbags minus the sand. Deputy Fire Chief Juan Mestas says the new and improved bags come prefilled with silica gel beads. He says they're also easier to dispose of, once they're used you can just put them in the regular trash. The city is giving four bags to residents with identification from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. today and Saturday in the municipal parking lots in the 21-hundred block of Collins Avenue.
